Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On October 21, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP for the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the internet, including her self released single Bound. On July 21st, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes song"Sweat It Out. Later that year her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some references for Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had contracted by Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21, 2016, she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream of the album was released on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a a music video. On the 9th of November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then, on November 13 she dropped two more singles titled One and Pdigree. One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It was then released as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was launched with a music video posted on YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than three million times over the first seven days. In December 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
